Vishal Venkatraman, BS, is a rising 4th year medical student at Duke University School of Medicine, working with the Department of Neurosurgery. He is completing a master's degree in clinical research prior to beginning his final year of medical school, and is conducting research in the lab of Dr. Nandan Lad, MD PhD. Vishal's research focuses on the use of large databases to answer outcomes questions in neurosurgery, neurosurgical education, digital health technology and its application in the surgical setting, and clinical trials in functional neurosurgery. His long-term goal is to pursue a career in functional or spine neurosurgery and practice in an academic setting, where he hopes to run clinical trials focusing on the implementation of new devices and technologies in the operating room.
