Tanner Zachem is a senior undergraduate mechanical engineer at Duke University who has led the development and implementation of a novel non-contact laser based brain tumor identification system. Tanner was awarded the Barry M. Goldwater Scholarship for his research at the intersection of engineering and neurosurgery. After graduation, Tanner will be starting his PhD at Duke University’s Brain Tool Laboratory under Dr. Patrick Codd. After completing his PhD, Tanner plans to attend medical school to follow his passion for neurosurgery and become a physician-scientist.
