Amani Carson, BA is a first-year medical student at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA in the Charles Drew/UCLA Medical Education Program and the Global Health Equity Pathway. She is interested in pediatric neurosurgery, health equity interventions, and surgical education. Her current neurosurgical research projects focus on reducing barriers to neuro-oncological care in underserved communities (with Dr. Kunal Patel, MD), as well as developing shared decision-making tools for pediatric epilepsy surgery and identifying markers of post-surgical outcomes for pediatricians (with Dr. Aria Fallah, MD, MS). Amani was born and raised in Boston, MA and attended Duke University, before moving to Los Angeles with her family and two dogs.
