Kavelin Rumalla, MD, MS, is a neurosurgery resident at the University of New Mexico Hospital. He graduated from the University of Missouri-Kansas City 6 year BA/MD program in December 2020. During medical school, he pursued a neurosurgery-focused research year alongside a Master of Science in Clinical Bioinformatics. His primary research interests focus on pre-operative risk assessment (e.g., frailty screening), quality improvement, and applications of big data analytics to neurosurgical patient populations. To date, he's published over 100 peer-reviewed articles and given over 30 oral / poster presentations at national meetings. Currently, he's invested in teaching and mentoring of medical students as part of the Bowers' Frailty and Neurosurgical Outcomes Data Science Lab.
