Medical Student
Stanford University School of Medicine
Joshua Isaac Leaston is a MD candidate in the Stanford University School of Medicine entering class of 2021 and holds a degree in Neuroscience from Northeastern University. He has focused his research on the development of quantitative neuroimaging methodologies and evaluating neurosurgical outcomes.
At this year's conference focused on spine, Joshua will present his research on the performance and efficacy of comorbidity indices as predictive measures in spine surgery patient populations. Specifically, he will discuss the disparities in the ability of these indices to predict adverse outcomes in different demographic groups. His presentation will highlight the need to address these disparities in order to optimize surgical decision-making and improve outcomes for all patients undergoing spine surgery.
