Dr. Shih-Hung Yang is staff neurosurgeon and adjunct assistant professor in the Division of Neurosurgery, Department of Surgery, National Taiwan University Hospital (NTUH), Taipei, Taiwan. Dr. Yang's clinical service focuses on pediatric neurosurgery, with special interests in brain tumor, skull base surgery and craniovertebral junction surgery, and are proficient with both microscopic and endoscopic approaches. He is a member of the multidisciplinary pediatric oncology team in NTU children hospital, and heads the multidisciplinary pituitary and skull base team in NTUH. Dr. Yang is also enthusiastic in neurosurgical education and devotes himself to national and international neurosurgical communities. He is currently the secretary general of the Taiwan Pediatric Brain Tumor Consortium (TPBTC), and the ex-president of Taiwan Society for Pediatric Neurosurgery (TSPN). He is a faculty member of the Asia Australasia Course for Pediatric Neurosurgery (AAACPN). The research themes include pediatric brain tumor and hydrocephalus. Due to pathology diversity of the pediatric brain tumors and decreasing birth rate in Taiwan, the establishment of TPBTC is essential to further the study of pediatric brain tumor across all major medical centers in Taiwan. Regarding hydrocephalus, shunt is the main stay treatment with still many issues to be solved. The study of smart CSF shunt shed light on the unresolved problem of CSF shunt over drainage .
