CHRISTIAN G. ZIMMERMAN is past Chairman and Founder of
the Saint Alphonsus Neurosciences Institute, (SANI), Adjunct
Professor of Psychology and in the College of Business and
Economics at Boise State University. He also served as a Board
member for the Idaho State Board of Health and Welfare. He also
had the distinct honor to serve on the National Academies of
Medicine, Forum on Neuroscience and Nervous System Disorders
Board on Health Sciences Policy. Dr. Zimmerman established the
SANI research facility to focus on nervous system injury, leads its
various interdisciplinary research teams, and is Co-Professor for
Biology and Cognitive Neuroscience research students trained at
the facility. Research projects include a 25-year longitudinal
study of traumatic brain injury, investigations of spinal injury,
stroke, sleep disorders, movement disorders, and five TATRC
Telemedicine Grants. To date the SANI has authored and
presented over 400 peer reviewed publications at both National
and International Meetings. In May of 2018 and 2021, the SANI
presented nine publications each year in spinal medicine and
medical economics at the Annual Meeting of the American
Association of Neurological Surgeons in New Orleans and
Tampa. Dr. Zimmerman is a re-certified Diplomate of the
American Board of Neurological Surgery and Pain Management, a
Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and Physician
Executives, a Fellow of the Royal Society of Medicine, and
received his Master of Business Administration from Auburn
University and Master of Healthcare Delivery Science from
Dartmouth College. Dr. Zimmerman has been selected by US
News and World Report Top Doctors, (Top 1%) since 2007, and
was lead surgeon in the Healthgrades 2020 Report to the Nation
Top 100 for Saint Alphonsus Health System for Spinal Surger
