Mojtaba Dayyani, MD is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow of Neurosurgery working at the Division of Neurosurgery, City of Hope, Duarte, California, under the supervision of Dr. Behnam Badie (Heritage Provider Network Professor in Gene Therapy and Chief, Division of Neurosurgery).
Currently, his research is focused on investigating the role of RAGE-related pathways on glioma progression, invasion, and immune evasion and how they could be exploited to improve the efficacy of immunotherapy approaches. In addition, he has designed multiple novel antisense oligonucleotides for targeted therapy of glioblastoma, and pilot experiments have shown promising results.
He has conducted more than 30 clinical and translational research projects, published in major scientific journals, and contributed to several NIH projects to investigate immunotherapy of brain tumors, autonomic alteration of epilepsy patients, and stratifying the pharmacological options for the management of cerebral vasospasm through an innovative, evidence-based methodology. Moreover, Mojtaba has trained more than 2,500 medical students for the responsible conduct of research, clinical study designs, communication skills, and medical education over eight years in several medical universities in his home country.
He is passionate about neurosurgery and getting prepared for the residency match. He hopes to continue his carrier as an influential neurosurgeon-scientist and health policy maker in the near future. He believes results from quality research change societies and provide better lives for human beings and other creatures on our planet!
