Medical Student
University of Pittsburgh
Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, United States
Jonathan Ho is a medical student in the Physician Scientist Training Program at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. He graduated from the Unviersity of Pittsburgh in 2019 with a B.S. in neuroscience. During undergrad, he worked in Dr. Schluter in the Department of Neuroscience looking into the mechanisms of synaptic plasticity in the visual cortex during developmental critical periods. He later spent a year with Dr. Linda Buck at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center in Seattle, studying the molecular mechanisms and neural circuits that underlie olfactory effects on perception, instinctive odor responses, and basic drives, such as appetite and stress.
He currently works with Drs. Elvira Pirondini and Jorge Gonzalez-Martinez at the Rehab and Neural Engineering Labs to develop a novel deep brain stimulation technology of the motor thalamus to assist patients with motor function after stroke and traumatic brain injury. He is also invovled in investigating the use and mechanisms of spinal cord stimulation in the recovery of motor function in patients with stroke and spinal muscular atrophy
