Dr. Julius O. Ebinu is an assistant professor of neurological surgery at the University of California (Davis) with dual-fellowship training in minimally invasive/complex spine and skull base/neuro-oncology. He is a graduate of the Cumming School of Medicine at the University of Calgary. He completed his neurosurgical residency training at the University of Toronto. He then went on to pursue a skull-base/neuro-oncology fellowship at the University of Toronto followed by an additional year of fellowship training in complex/minimally invasive spine at the University of Miami. Dr. Ebinu received his board certification in Neurosurgery and is a Fellow of the Royal Colege of Physicians nad Surgeons of Canada and the American Association of Neurological Surgeons.
Dr. Ebinu’s clinical practice highlights a patient-centered approach to managing numerous spinal disorders with an emphasis on state-of-the-art computer-guided technologies, robotics, and minimally invasive techniques to improve patient outcomes and maximize the safety of surgery. Dr. Ebinu has expertise in the treatment of a variety of disorders, including spinal cord tumors, total disc replacement, spinal deformity and reconstruction, and spinal cord traumatic injuries.
Dr. Ebinu's research interests include understanding the biology and pathophysiology of spinal cord injury with the goals of identifying therapeutic strategies to restore functional recovery in spinal cord injury patients. Specifically, he is exploring regenerative and restorative strategies with combinatorial treatments involving stem cells, pharmacological agents/nano-particles, electrical stimulation and physical therapy to restore function in acute and chronic spinal cord injury models. In his spare time he enjoys cycling, jazz and is in the process of obtaining his private pilot’s license.
