Debarati (Debi) Bhanja is a third-year medical student at Penn State College of Medicine. Debi earned her B.S. from Carnegie Mellon University in Neurobiology and a minor in Biomedical Engineering. She served as President of Penn State's American Association of Neurological Surgeons medical student chapter (2021-2022). Her interests in neurosurgery include neuro-oncology, neurocritical care, and peripheral nerve. Her research focus is on novel therapeutics for brain tumors, including photodynamic therapy and the neuropharmacokinetics of repurposed drug candidates, under the advisement of Dr. Alireza Mansouri.
