Dr. Otamendi Lopez obtained her Medical Doctor degree at the Universidad Autonoma de Guadalajara in Mexico. During the last two years of her medical training, she worked at the National Institute of Medical Science and Nutrition “Salvador Zubiran”, a center for excellence in both medicine and research. She was involved in clinical and basic research with a particular focus on immuno-oncology, neuropathic pain, and hypertension regulation through WNK kinases. She also worked for six months as a front-line medical worker in Unidad Temporal COVID-19 Centro Citibanamex, one of the largest COVID-19 hospitals in Latin America with the lowest mortality in Mexico.
Currently, she is working at the The Brain Tumor Stem Cell Research Laboratory of Dr. Quinones-Hinojosa focusing on evaluating different metabolism targets and their relationship with tumor microenvironment, CAR T cell therapy for glioblastoma and different projects related to patient-outcomes in awake craniotomies.
She aspires to contribute to translational research in neuro-oncology as well in neurosurgery with the ultimate goal of becoming a neurosurgeon-scientist.
