Dr. Stiefel is currently the Miedical Director of the Comprehensive Stroke Center at Piedmont Atlanta Hospital and is the Medical Director of the System Stroke Program for Piedmont Health, a 19 hospital health system in Georgia. He serves as the Director of Cerebrovascuilar and Endovascular Neurosurgery.
He is a fellowship trained, board certified Neurosurgeon specializing in Cerebrovascular and Endovascular Neurosurgery and Neurosurgical Oncology. Dr. Stiefel completed his Neurosurgery training at the University of Pennsylvania where he gained extensive experience in cerebrovascular diseases and the treatment of brain tumors at the University of Pennsylvania’s Abramson Cancer Center. Following residency, Dr. Stiefel completed a fellowship in Endovascular Neurosurgery at the Barrow Neurological Institute in Phoenix, Arizona. Dr. Stiefel received additional specialty training in stereotactic radiosurgery utilizing both Cyberknife and Gamma Knife techniques for the treatment of brain tumors and vascular diseases.
Dr. Stiefel is a senior member of the Society of NeuroInterventional Surgery and was awarded Subspecialty Certification in NeuroEndovascular Surgery by The Society of Neurological Surgeons Committee on Advanced Subspecialty Training.
