Saint Louis University
Umar Durrani is a 2nd-Year Medical Student at Saint Louis University School of Medicine. He received his undergraduate degree in Medical Sciences from the University of Cincinnati and a Master's Degree in Public Health from Dartmouth College. He is interested in a variety of surgical specialties, as well as oncology and psychiatry. He enjoys pursuing clinical reserach in areas that require interdisciplinary collaboration. For example, he recently worked on a project investigating the best treatments for patients presenting with both prolactinoma and psychiatric illness. This project bridged the specialties of endocrinology, psychiatry, ophthalmology, neurology and neurological surgery, with the goal of providing the best possible care to patients with this rare comorbidity. He is also interested in research that investigates medicine's connection to the larger world, such as that presented in this poster regarding patent litigation in spine surgery.
