Medical Student
University of California, Los Angeles
Dr. Jessica Chen completed her BS in biomedical engineering at the University of Southern California in 2014, her PhD in neuroscience at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor in 2020, and is currently both a post-doctoral level scientist and fourth-year medical student at the University of California, Los Angeles. Broadly, Dr. Chen has expertise in the use of various tissue engineering techniques to understand and control neural tissues and disease processes. Her PhD work was focused on the use of biomaterials and gene therapy to control inflammation and reduce secondary damage in a murine spinal cord injury model, while her current work is focused on the use of biomaterials to generate biomimetic 3D scaffolds that support patient-derived glioblastoma tumorigenesis in vitro.
