Gianina C. Hernandez-Marquez, BS, is a Latinx female 4th-year medical student at San Juan Bautista School of Medicine born and raised in San Juan, Puerto Rico. She graduated Magna Cum Laude with a bachelor's in Molecular and Cell Biology at the University of Puerto Rico, Rio Piedras Campus. After this, she began medical school at San Juan Bautista School of Medicine in Caguas, Puerto Rico, where she has been very involved in several research projects focused on the clinical neurology area. Ms. Hernandez-Marquez is currently doing a scholar research year at the Department of Neurosurgery at Mount Sinai Hospital, where she has dived into the neuro-oncology field and related topics. She likes to spend her free time going out for a run, cooking, trying new food places, going to the beach, or dancing salsa. Gianina aspires to enter the field of Neurosurgery and continue working in clinical research studies that analyze patient outcomes, improve the quality of patient care, and address health disparities.
