Neurosurgery and spine surgery consultant/Associate Profesor of Neurosurgery and Spine

I am a physician with experience in neurosurgery and spine surgery. I am currently a consultant of neurosurgery and spine surgery at hospital regional Adolfo Lopez Mateos in Mexico City and professor of spine surgery as well as an associate profesor of neurosurgery at the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM).
I obtained my Bachelor's degree in Biological Sciences and Health from Universidad La Salle in Mexico City, followed by a degree in Medicine and Surgery from the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM). During my academic training, I was part of the Quality Educational Nuclei program and the High Academic Demand Program (PAEA).
After completing my academic training, I worked as a Neurology Research Clerk at Massachusetts General Hospital - Harvard Medical School. Subsequently, I completed my social service in research at the "Manuel Velasco Suarez" National Institute of Neurology and Neurosurgery. I continued my training as a Resident in General Surgery at Hospital Angeles del Pedregal - Universidad La Salle, Mexico City, and later as a Resident in Neurosurgery at the Central South High Specialty Hospital of Petroleos Mexicanos - UNAM.
To enhance my experience and skills, I completed courses in Spine Surgery at New York-Presbyterian Hospital - Cornell University, USA, and Complex Spine and Pain Surgery at London Bridge Hospital in London, UK. In addition, I completed a Postgraduate Course in Spine Surgery at the Central South High Specialty Hospital of Petroleos Mexicanos - UNAM.
In addition to my clinical work, I serve as an Associate Editor for the Clinical Case Reports Journal published by Wiley & Sons. I also contribute as a reviewer for various medical journals, including World Neurosurgery, World Neurosurgery X, Interdisciplinary Neurosurgery, Anatomical Sciences Education, Clinical Case Reports Journal, Journal of Visualized Experiments, and Journal of the American Geriatrics Society. My dedication to editorial work stems from my commitment to advancing medical knowledge and sharing insights with my peers.
Throughout my academic and professional journey, I have received various awards and recognitions for my achievements. In 2008, I received the State Youth Award for Academic Activities in the state of Chiapas, Mexico, and was awarded the "Jaime Sabines" medal. During my social service, I was honored with the "Gustavo Baz Prada" medal from the UNAM for excellence in service. In 2012, I was recognized as the best undergraduate student at the National Institute of Neurology and Neurosurgery.
My contributions to the medical field have also been recognized at an international level. In 2018 and 2019, I was ranked as a Top Reviewer in Clinical Medicine by Web of Science. Additionally, in 2021, I received 3rd place in the Spine and Peripheral Nerve category at the 83rd Annual Meeting of the American Association of Neurological Surgeons (AANS).
My professional focus is on providing high-quality care to my patients, and I am committed to continuing to learn and improve my skills to provide the best outcomes in spine surgery.
