Emmy Award winner Eric Shaw is a rare breed of head writer, executive producer and medical researcher. He earned his Emmy Award in Outstanding Writing in Animation as head writer for the series WordGirl and went on to story-edit/produce Disney Junior's reimagined Muppet Babies television series, where he ran the writing, earning Humanitas and Emmy nominations. Eric was also a staff writer on the global smash hit, SpongeBob SquarePants in its heyday. Eric contributed his writing acumen in multiple published research studies focused on both cardiology and anesthesiology while volunteering at Univ. of Miami, Miller School of Medicine. Presently dedicating himself to volunteer research at Medical University of South Carolina, Eric is applying to medical school this upcoming '23-'24 cycle. His focus remains on childhood illnesses and he has settled into numerous projects in pediatric neurosurgery under the guidance of his mentor Ramin Eskandari, M.D. Eric is loving father to three children: twenty-something boys, Ethan and Jake, and little lady Brooklyn, his sassy pre-schooler.
