Dr. Steven Glassman, M.D. did his undergraduate training at Princeton University (Princeton, NJ). He attended Medical School and completed his Orthopedic Surgery residency training at The Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons (New York, NY). He did Spine Fellowship training at the Norton Leatherman Spine Center (Louisville, KY). He has been staff surgeon at Leatherman since 1991, and is now Medical Director.
Dr. Glassman is widely recognized both nationally and internationally as a leader in spinal surgery. Dr. Glassman is Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery at the University of Louisville. He is Past President of the Scoliosis Research Society, past Chair of the Professional Society Coalition Task Force on Lumbar Fusion and past program chair for the North American Spine Society. He is currently co-chair of the American Spine Registry and a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons Registry Oversight Committee. Dr. Glassman has been visiting guest Professor throughout the United States and in over 20 countries.
Dr. Glassman has won numerous honors and awards. He was the first orthopaedic surgeon to receive the Meritorious Service Award from the American Association of Neurologic Surgeons/Congress of Neurological Surgeons Joint Section on Spinal Disorders. He has been a multiple time winner of Outstanding Paper Awards at the Scoliosis Research Society (SRS), North American Spine Society (NASS), and the International Meeting for Advanced Spine Techniques (IMAST). Dr. Glassman has published over 200 peer reviewed papers.
