Jay D. Turner, MD, PhD, FAANS is a board certified spinal neurosurgeon and an Associate Professor of Neurosurgery at the Barrow Neurological Institute (BNI) at St. Joseph's Hospital and Medical Center. Dr. Turner received his BS in biology at The College of New Jersey in Ewing, and doctorate of medicine and PhD in physiology at Rutgers University in Newark, New Jersey. He completed his neurosurgical residency at the BNI, fellowships in complex spine surgery in San Diego, California, and Zurich, Switzerland.
Dr. Turner's clinical practice focuses on scoliosis/spinal deformity, spinal tumors, and minimally invasive surgical techniques. In addition to his clinical interests, Dr. Turner is very active in both spinal research and neurosurgical education. His research interests include clinical outcomes research, biomechanical testing, and gait and postural stability testing as they relate to spinal disease. He serves as the Director of the Barrow Clinical Outcomes Center and Co-Director of the Barrow Scoliosis and Spinal Deformity Center. He is an active faculty member at the BNI.
