Nduka M. Amankulor, MD, is currently the Presidential Endowed Associate Professor of Neurosurgery at The University of Pennsylvania, where he also serves as Director of the U. Penn Brain Tumor Center and Division Chief of Neurosurgical Oncology. He specializes in the surgical management of gliomas, cortical mapping, and clinical trial implementation for brain tumors. Dr. Amankulor's laboratory has characterized foundational mechanisms of immune suppression in gliomas, with a particular focus on IDH mutant gliomas. Several novel therapeutic strategies, clinical trials and patents have emerged from this work. Outside of Neurosurgery, he is an avid reader, a one-time professional opera singer and lover of early African-American vocal Spirtuals. He lives in Philadelphia and enjoys his time at home with his wife (Rachel) and three boisterous children (Noah, Ezra and Nina).
