Christina La Gamma is a fourth-year medical student at Penn State College of Medicine. She is a current research fellow in the Medical Research Scholars Program at the National Institutes of Health, studying cortical and limbic opioid regulation of motivation behavior. Christina earned her BA in Neuroscience from Barnard College of Columbia in 2016. She then went on to work at the New York State Psychiatric Institute/Columbia University Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons to investigate molecular mechanisms of ketamine as a prophylactic against major depressive disorder, until beginning medical school in 2019. Long-term, she hopes to contribute to advancements in neuromodulation and novel therapeutics for neuropsychiatric disease treatment as a clinician-scientist.
